It’s been well over 40 years since I’ve read Tolkien.  My ratty paperback copies stuffed in my back pocket to read on the bus to school. The paperbacks are long gone, subjected to abuse between readings.  I think it’s time to rediscover Tolkien on this old Kindle eReader; easier to hold and read with arthritis.  While reading, Earl Grey or Oolong tea?  Or bourbon or rye, English blend or Burley blend?

Metro living chaos, noise, congestion

Urban warfare corruption and greed

Together in collective loneliness 

     Alone

Instant gratification in fast paced idolatry

Distractions

Plague of anxiety and depression

Homogenous glass and concrete dystopia

Political angst, control and fraud

Two opposing political cults

     Buying devotion

Congregations of feeble mindedness 

Propaganda arguments and hate

Quiet reflection and contemplation are

     Lost and gone

Unnecessary collective

     Escape 

Selah Moments

     Psalms

A place of peace 

Away from the urban jungle

A walk through the woods

A sitting rock upon the shore

Remove all harried toil and futile busyness

     Balance and reflection

Return inner peace back to God

Guardian angels guiding light

Protecting our journey

Heaven’s starlight shining from above

Waning moon and wandering planets

Infinitely small

     Alone

     Yet tranquil

Covered by a blanket of peace

God’s heavenly mysteries partially revealed

Calming our heart and soul

A chance to breathe

     Rebreathe again
